When I started The Teacher As... Podcast in July of 2020, the teaching metaphors that were at the forefront of my mind were related to movies since that's a passion of mine. I started this podcast thinking about The teacher As Film Editor because I was reading a book about film editing. So I've done a lot of research because I'm interested in it. So I decided to share these little mini teaching connections and quotes. I'm going to call them minisodes. They're mini episodes. I have also been enjoying MasterClass and taking notes from many filmmakers, which is ridiculously exciting, you know, to be able to have a lesson from Martin Scorsese. Not a lesson, have a whole MasterClass by Martin Scorsese, or Spike Lee or Ron Howard orJodie Foster is really cool. Eventually, it might not be filmmakers, like editors and directors. This might be also other metaphors to teaching that are on MasterClass that I find interesting. For instance, I might do a whole bunch of minisodes at some point about The Teacher As Gardener because Ron Finley is on MasterClass and his gardening lessons are amazing. And you listen to it as a teacher, all you're hearing is teaching metaphors, so I might do that too. These are short episodes, each focused on a teaching metaphor, the teacher as blank. So one week, you'll have a full Teacher As... regular podcast episode. And then the other week is a minisode. So you get too minisodes a month and you get two regular episodes a month. For the launch of minisodes, along with this intro, I'm including two minisodes about The Teacher As Filmmaker with Spike Lee. Hope you enjoy.
