Melissa Milner:

Hi! Welcome to The Teacher As... It's Melissa Milner, and I'm actually just going to talk to you right now. I have really enjoyed this first season. This is the last episode of the first season of The Teacher As... I started on July 9th, with two episodes, one was just an intro. and the other was with the amazing Grant Hightower, and I am finding out what this podcast is.

It's evolving for me. I started with the thought of having teachers sharing their passions outside of the classroom. And that's been really cool. I have professions, people, you know, who have professions outside of education. And that's been really cool. The one piece that I thought was important for the podcast and is becoming diminished is the practical ideas for the classroom. And there's a few reasons for that. I tend to be a big picture person. And I'm finding that I'm really going more for the pedagogy and the passions and the parallels. And one person, the wonderful Olivia Romano, left me a very nice review on Apple podcasts. And she said, it's really a broad podcast. And that really made me think it really is broad. And that's sort of the way my brain thinks. I really think big picture. I'm not instinctually a details person. I'm a big ideas, person. That's the way my brain works. That's why I enjoy directing. That's why I enjoy teaching.

So, this podcast is probably not going to give you that great lesson to do the next day in the classroom. This podcast will hopefully remind you of why you decided to be an educator. It hopefully will give you the big picture in education. And hopefully it'll give you different lenses to see what our purpose is in, in education. And the people I bring on, I have some interviews already in the books that I need to edit and put out at the beginning of January, February. But then you might notice that things are changing, and interviews are changing, and it's just gonna evolve. So I hope that you stay with The Teacher As... podcast, because it's gonna get pretty interesting. And I am hoping interesting, I'm hoping that you'll get a lot out of it in its broad scope. I hope you will then investigate for yourself and, and read and do the professional development. When you hear something on the podcast that makes you say, Oh, that's interesting. I never thought of that. That perspective. I hope that you then go and do that work that we all do as as professionals.

The other thing I hope is that you give me feedback. I don't care if it's on Apple podcasts, you could just go onto the website, and and leave me some feedback. I would love to know what you're hoping to get out of listening. I had an idea of what this podcast was going to be, but now I'm really after 30 episodes, some bonus some full episodes, I'm really starting to see it more clearly. So I just wanted to share that with you.

I'm taking a break. The next episode will be January 10th. So, taking a break to rejuvenate and to brainstorm some avenues and some directions that I want the podcast to take. So have a wonderful holiday season. I'm very thankful for every single person who is listening and supporting the podcast and Happy New Year.

I am sending a special thanks to Linda and Lester Fleishman, my mom and dad for being so supportive. They are the voices you hear in the Zooming In soundbite and my dad composed and performed the background music you are listening to right now. My Intro Music was upbeat party by Scott Holmes. So what are you zooming in on? I would love to hear from you. My hope is that we all share what we are doing in the classroom in order to teach, remind, affirm and inspire each other. Thanks for listening. And that's a wrap
